NT 42 Peter Heals a Beggar


Reference: Acts 3-4

Big Idea: Tell others that Jesus saves.


Verse: Acts 16:31 - And they said ,“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved...” (ESV)

  5. What did Peter say to the beggar? // In Jesus’ name, get up and walk
  6. What happened after Peter talked to the beggar? // His legs were made strong, he could walk
  7. How did the people who saw this happen feel? // Amazed
  8. What did Peter say to the crowd? // He told them about Jesus
  9. How can we be saved from our sins? // By believing that Jesus died to pay our punishment and rose again
  10. What is today’s big idea? // Tell others that Jesus saves.

NT 41 The Holy Spirit Comes

Reference: Acts 2, John 14

Big Idea: The Holy Spirit helps you obey Jesus.

Verse: John 14:16-17 - And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth...

Motions for the Big Idea:
Holy Spirit - bow down in worship
Helps - reach down with your hands and pretend to help someone up
Obey - make a large “O” with your arms above your head
Jesus - make a cross with your forearms

Motions For the Verse:
Ask - make your hand “talk” like a sock puppet
Father - put your fists on your hips and stand boldly
Give - cup your hands together and gesture away
Helper - reach down with your hands and pretend to help someone up
Forever - draw repeated circles in the air
Spirit - hold your hands up and wiggle your fingers
Truth - make a “T” with your hands

Big Idea: Disciples of Jesus go make more disciples of Jesus.

Verse: Matthew 28:18-19 - “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations...” (ESV)

Motions for the Big idea:
Disciples - point up with both index fingers and have your hands “walk” away from you*
Jesus - form a cross with your forearms
Go - point away from you
Make - pretend to hammer a nail
Disciples - same as above
Jesus - form a cross with your forearms

Authority - wag your index finger like you’re in charge
Heaven - point up
Earth - point down
Given - cup your hands and gesture away

NT 38 Jesus Rises From the Dead

Reference: Matthew 28, Luke 24

Big Idea: Jesus rose from the dead.

Verse: 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 - “....Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day...” (ESV)

Motions For the Big Idea:
Jesus - make a cross with your forearms
Rose - Gesture upward with both palms
Dead - cross your forearms in an “X’ over your chest

Motions For the Verse:
Christ - make a cross with your forearms
Died - cross your forearms in an “X’ over your chest
Sins - two thumbs down
Scriptures - pretend to open a book
Buried - pretend to dig with a shovel
Rose - gesture upward with both palms

  1. Where was Jesus buried? (In a tomb, with a stone in front)
  2. On what day of the week did Jesus die? (Friday.)
  3. On what day of the week did Jesus rise from the dead? (Sunday.)
  4. Who were the first people at the tomb? (The two Marys.)
  5. What happened when the Marys went to the tomb? (An earthquake, an angel rolled the stone away)
  6. What did the angel say? (Jesus has risen, Go tell his disciples.)
  7. Who did the Marys meet on the way to tell the disciples? (Jesus.)
  8. Did the disciples believe when the women told them Jesus had risen? (No.)
  9. Who ran to the tomb to check it out? (Peter.)
  10. When Jesus appeared to the disciples, who did they think he was? (A ghost.)
  11. What did Jesus do to prove he wasn’t a ghost? (Let them see his hands and feet, ate a fish.
