OT 31 The Golden Calf


Reference: Exodus 32

Big Idea: Worship God, not stuff.

Motions For the Big Idea:
Worship - bow down
God - point up
Not - wag your finger no
Stuff - rub your fingertips together

Verse: Matthew 4:10b - You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve. (
ESV)

Motions For the Verse:
You - Point a finger at someone else Worship - hold up your arms and bow forward
Lord your God - point up Only - wave both your hands in front of you
Serve - cup your hands together and gesture out

Questions to Ask Throughout the Week
  1. How long was Moses on the mountain? // 40 days.
  2. Who was Aaron? // Moses’ brother
  3. What did the people ask Aaron to do? // Make a god to worship.
  4. What did Aaron use to make an idol for the Israelites? // The metal from their earrings.
  5. What did Aaron’s idol look like? // A calf
  6. What did the Israelites do for their idol? // They had a feast, danced, and partied
  7. What did God tell Moses he was going to do to the Israelites? // Destroy them.
  8. What did Moses ask God? // Not to destroy the Israelites.
  9. Did God do what Moses prayed? // Yes, he did.
  10. What did Moses do when he saw the idol? // Became angry and destroyed the stone tablets.
  11. What is today’s big idea? // Worship God, not stuff.
