Reference: Exodus 19-20


Big Idea: To love God, obey his commands.


Motions for the Big Idea:

Love - hold your hands over your heart
God - point up
Obey - make a large letter “O” over your head with your arms
Commands - Wag your index finger as if instructing someone



Verse: 1 John 5:3a - For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. (ESV)


Questions to Ask Throughout the Week

Where did the Israelites camp? // In the desert, near a mountain
Who went up the mountain? // Moses
Why did Moses go up the mountain? // To talk to God
What did God ask the Israelites to do? // Obey him completely.
What would the Israelites be if they obeyed God completely? // God's special treasure.
What did people hear and see when God came down the mountain? // Thunder, trumpets, smoke, fire
What do we call the 10 special rules God gave Moses? // The Ten Commandments.
