Story Summary:
After Jesus rose in the sky and ascended to heaven, two angels told the disciples that Jesus would come back one day in the same way he left. Before Jesus left for heaven, Jesus told his disciples that he would prepare a place for them in his Father’s house.
The Bible tells us that no one but God the Father knows when Jesus will come back. But Jesus told his disciples to be ready for his return at any time.
There are many mysteries about what will happen when Jesus returns, but there are some things we know for sure. When Jesus returns, everyone who has died, good or bad, will be brought back to life. Then, Jesus will divide everyone into two groups: those who believed the good news about Jesus and those who didn’t.
Jesus will send those who didn’t believe the good news to be punished in fire forever. The devil and all his evil angels will face this same punishment, too.
Jesus will reward everyone who believed the good news. He’ll make a new heaven and earth, where everything is perfect. God will come and live with his people. Our bodies will be made perfect, never to die. Jesus will reign as king and we’ll happily serve him forever.
Big Idea and Motions: King Jesus is coming back, so be ready.
Jesus - form a cross with your arms
Coming back - point up to heaven, then down to earth
Be ready - fold your hands and look up, as if waiting for Jesus
Verse / Motions: Matthew 24:44, ESV - Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
You - point at another person
Ready - fold your hands and look up, as if waiting for Jesus
Son of Man - form a cross with your arms (since the “Son of Man” is Jesus)
Coming - march in place
Hour - tap your wrist like you’re pointing to your watch
Do not expect - put your hands on your cheeks and look surprised

NT 48 Paul is Shipwrecked
Reference: Acts 27-28:1-6
Story Summary:
In Jerusalem, some men were angry with Paul for sharing the good news of Jesus. They wanted to kill him, but before they could, he was arrested by some soldiers. While Paul waited in jail, Jesus appeared to him. He promised that Paul would one day share the good news in the city of Rome.
It was decided later that Paul and other prisoners should be taken to Rome on a sailing ship. God told Paul that their trip would be troublesome. Paul told the ship's commander that the trip was doomed, but he didn't listen and set sail.
Strong hurricane-like winds blew the ship. They set down their anchor and were stranded at sea for 14 days. God sent an angel to Paul. He told him that everyone on board would live, but the ship would be destroyed. Paul shared this news with those sailing with him, and told them to eat some food to keep up their strength.
Eventually, the boat began to break. The soldiers wanted to kill the prisoners, but the commander stopped them. He ordered them to swim to a nearby island or grab broken pieces of the ship and float to it.
When they reached the island, Paul was bitten by a poisonous snake, but God kept him from dying.
Big Idea and Motions: God’s in control of everything.

NT 47 Paul and Silas in Prison
Reference: Acts 16
Story Summary:
While on a missionary trip, Paul and Silas came to the city of Philippi. There they met a slave girl who had an evil spirit. It helped her tell the future to others and make her owners money.
The spirit made the girl follow Paul and Silas around and bother him. Paul commanded the spirit to leave in Jesus’ name, and it did. The slave girl’s owners were angry because their slave couldn’t make money anymore. They dragged Paul and Silas to the judge, who ordered the men whipped, beaten, and thrown into prison.
At midnight, Paul and Silas prayed and sang to God while chained in prison. God sent an earthquake, making their chains fall off and the doors open. The jailer thought everyone escaped, but Paul told him that everyone was still there. The jailer asked Paul what to do to be saved. “Believe in Jesus,” the men told them.

NT 46 Saul and Barnabas’ Missionary Journey
Reference: Acts 13-14
Story Summary:
As the church met together, the Holy Spirit spoke to them. He wanted Saul and Barnabas to travel from city to city and share the good news about Jesus. And so they set off from the city of Antioch.

After that, they reached Paphos, where they were bothered by an evil magician. God, however, made the magician completely blind.
They continued to the cities of Perga and then Antioch (a different city from where they started). Some people there were angry that they were sharing the good news, so they threw them out of town. In the next city, Iconium, God gave them power to do miracles. Some angry people there tried to throw stones at them, but the two men escaped.
They travelled to Lystra, where God gave them the power to heal a man who couldn't walk. But evil men came and threw stones at Saul. They thought they'd killed him, but Saul got up and walked right back into the city.

NT 43 Philip and the Ethiopian
Reference: Acts 8
Story Summary:
Philip was one of Jesus' disciples. An angel appeared to him and told him, "God south to the desert road." So Philip did what the angel told him to do. On his way, he saw someone sitting in his chariot.
The man was important. He was in charge of all the wealth of the queen of Ethiopia. As he sat there, he was reading from the Book of Isaiah, the prophet. The Holy Spirit told Philip to go over to the chariot.
Philip asked the Ethiopian if he understood what he was reading. The Ethiopian said that he didn't and needed someone to explain it to him. The part he was reading talked about a special person. This special person was led away to be killed, like a sheep is led away to be sacrificed at the temple.
Philip explained that this was talking about Jesus. Then, he told the good news about Jesus to the Ethiopian. The Ethiopian believed the good news.
As they passed by water, the Ethiopian asked, "Here's water. Why shouldn't I be baptized?" So Philip baptized him. As the Ethiopian came up out of the water, God suddenly took Philip away from him to another place.
Big Idea and Motions: Believe the good news and be baptized.
Believe - Believe - pretend to grab a rope in front of you like it’s a rescue line*
