OT 70 The Fall of Israel and Judah

Reference: 2 Kings 17, 24-25

Big Idea: God punished Jesus for our sins.

Verse: Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (ESV)

Motions for the Big Idea:
God - point up
Punished - swat your leg with your palm
Jesus - form a cross with your forearms
Our - point to yourself with two thumbs
Sin - two thumbs down

Motions for the Verse:
Wages - hold one hand up like a credit card reader, and pretend to swipe a credit card with the other hand
Sin - two thumbs down
Death - cross your arms in an X over your chest
Free gift - pretend to hold a gift and give it to someone else
God - point up
Eternal life - trace a sideways “8” in the air with your finger
Christ Jesus - form a cross with your forearms

Who were God’s special people? // The Israelites
What do we call the rules God gave to Moses on the mountain? // The Law

Did the kingdoms of Israel have lots of good kings or lots of bad kings? // Bad kings
What happened to the kingdom of Israel? // God sent the Assyrian army to capture their king and take over their land
What happened to the kingdom of Judah? // God sent the Babylonian army to capture their king and take over their land
Who did God send to pay the punishment for your sin and mine? // Jesus, God’s Son
